Microsoft Flight Simulator news doesn’t really slow down on weekends, and today’s update is going to be rather geographically focused down-under.

Let’s start with an aircraft, which is the least geographically-focused news, but still rather active in Australia and New Zealand.

More videos have been released about the upcoming Pilatus Porter PC-6 by FlightSimGames, showcasing more tests and models being created for the cockpit.

We then move unequivocally down-under with Impulse Simulations revealing new images of Bankstown Airport (YSBK) in Australia.

Orbx released its Auckland City Pack, which can be purchased on Orbx Direct for $10.11.

Here’s what you can expect from the capital of New Zealand.

  • High-detail custom landmarks include Auckland Harbour Bridge, Sky Tower, Auckland War Memorial Museum, Eden Park Stadium, and the entire downtown waterfront between the Ferry Building and Hobson Wharf.
  • More than 100 medium-detail custom buildings showcase the unique architecture of historic and new Auckland.
  • Several buildings with rooftop helipads, with additional landing areas on moored vessels and at the Mechanics Bay heliport.
  • Animated features on both water and land.
  • Custom orthoimagery for downtown Auckland and the entire Waitematā Harbour waterfront.
  • Many enhancements to the city and surrounding areas: improved vegetation and building placements, static boats, vessels, cranes, antennae, etc.
  • Extensive terraforming and shoreline adjustments across the coverage area.
  • Custom night lighting based on real-world photography.

Last, but not least, NZA Simulations announced Mount Cook Aerodrome (NZMC), which is developed by new hire Sergio Del Rosso, whom many may know for some awesome freeware airports like Milford Sound and Saint Mortiz.

Recently, we published our massive interview with head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann, focusing on the Xbox version and short and long-term plans for the sim (on both platforms).

Proud weeb hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long-standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
