Today SNK reached out with a press release to announce that The King of FIghters XV has been delayed.

The new release window is Q1 2022, and it comes with an apology to the fans that were looking forward to the game. Originally, the game was supposed to release this year.

Unfortunately, the press release explains, the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing and it has been affecting the development schedule. The developers have judge that a further improvement in quality is required to deliver a product that will satisfy everyone.

We don’t yet know the platforms The King of Fighters XV will support, and this new press release offers no hint on that front.

If you want to see more, you can check out the first trailer, the first gallery of screenshots, and the trailers that revealed Shun’ei, Meitenkun, Benimaru Nikaido, Iori Yagami, Yashiro Nanakase, Joe Higashi, Kyo Kusanagi, Chizuru Kagura, Andy Bogard, Yuri Sakazaki, Terry Bogard, King, Mai Shiranui, Shermie, Chris, the duo Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia, Leona Heidern, Ralf Jones and Clark Still, and Blue Mary.

We also know that an animated short by Masami Obari is going to be published down the line to promote the game. That being said, we don’t know when it’s coming just yet.
