Original Sakura Wars for Sega Saturn Finally Translated by Fans 23 Years After its Release

A new Sakura Wars game has been released in Japan and is coming west next year, but a group of fans just accomplished what Sega couldn't in 23 years.

A new Sakura Wars game has just been released in Japan and is coming west next year, but a group of dedicated fans just accomplished what Sega couldn’t in 23 years.

The fan translation of the original Sega Saturn version of the first Sakura Wars game, vintage 1996, has just been released courtesy of a group helmed by e by NSteam (who worked on the excellent translation of Dragon Force 2) and cj_iwakura known within the community for the work of Iwakura Productions.

Further credit was given to MatatabiMitsu, CrouchingMouse, Joqu, TrekkiesUnite118, Schlomo, and BowlOfLentils, among many who contributed their work.

If you’re unfamiliar with how to apply the patch, everything is covered in the readme file within the package.

All of the instructions of how to play the patch are included in the readme.txt file, but for those wondering the recommended emulator for this is Mednafen which is able to play the game without issues. And yes it can be played in your modded Saturn 🙂 #SakuraWars
