Yakuza: Like a Dragon for PS4 Has Shipped Over 300,000 Copies

Today Executive Director Toshihiro Nagoshi hosted his usual Sega Nama livestream, and provided an update about the sales of Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

Nagoshi-san mentioned that the game has now shipped over 300,000 copies. He also added that it feels good, even if it was unfortunate that there were shortages at retail.

It’ll be interesting to see the overall performance of the game when it launches in the west this year, considering that it’s very different in terms of gameplay compared to previous chapters of the series. 

For those unfamiliar with it, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, titled Ryo Ga Gotoku 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness in Japan, is the latest mainline game of the Yakuza series, despite the western title that makes it sound more like a spinoff. 

It features a brand new hero and completely overhauled gameplay more akin to a turn-based JRPG than to previous action games of the Yakuza franchise.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon launched in Japan on January 16, 2020, exclusively for PS4. It’ll also come west later next year.
