Today Sega released a brand new batch of screenshots and details about its upcoming JRPG Ryu ga Gotoku 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness, also known as Yakuza: Like a Dragon in the west.
First of all, we get to see the map of the new town of Isezaki Ijincho in Yokohama. We learn that it’s about three times bigger than the traditional setting in Kamurocho.
It includes several areas each with its unique flavor. Like Kamurocho, they’re inspired by real places in Yokohama, even if the layout is quite condensed.
Shokuan Machi (basically Employment Town) includes Hello Work where you can change jobs and several places where homeless people live. There are also a few restaurants with a seedy atmosphere.
Korean Street is where the Korean community lives. Shops have many signs in their native language and it’s quite unsafe, being the base of the mysterious organization named Komijul.
The Hantenkouji area is where a powerful Chinese mafia organization has its base (in a high-class Chinese restaurant). Alongside Korean Street, it’s the other dangerous area, and its atmosphere is much different compared to the tourist-friendly and welcoming Chinatown.
The Isezaki Road area is a reproduction of the real Isezakichō Shopping Street in Yokohama and it features many establishments and shops where you can enjoy a meal or have fun. Here you can find the pachislot parlor Pia, where you can win tokens that can be exchanged for powerful items.
The red light district area is a district full of adult entertainment establishments including the long-established soapland Otohime Land. In this area, you’ll meet suspicious hosts and Ichiban Kasuga and his friends will seek work at Otohime Land.
The Snack Street area includes plenty of snack bars including the karaoke bar “Survivor” where Ichiban will start to hang out after being introduced by Adachi, who has been a patron for a long time.
Chinatown is a reproduction of the real Yokohama Chinatown area, full of tourists and Chinese restaurants.
The area around Jinnai Station includes several western-style buildings and the darts bar Bee, where you can play darts and enjoy the batting center.
The Hamakita Park area is Isezaki Ichinjo’s waterfront area, and it’s inspired by the parks in the real Minato Mirai 21 district of Yokohama (mostly Rinko Park near the Pacifico Yokohama complex). It’s a popular date spot and you can find the Dragon Kart minigame here.
We also meet two characters. Hamako is the manager of a small restaurant who helps women who have to work in the adult entertainment field to survive.
Nonomiya is the manager of Otohime Land. He often treats the ladies harshly so he doesn’t have a very good reputation among them.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon will launch in Japan on January 16, 2020, exclusively for PS4. It’ll also come west later next year, and a demo is already available on the Japanese PSN.
