Today Atlus released a batch of new assets of the upcoming JRPG Persona 5 Royal, which will bring several improvements and additions to the original Persona 5.

One very interesting new feature is the “Show Time” that lets our heroes deliver powerful co-op techniques.

Personas have been given new “attributes” with special effects. Those attributes can also carry over when combining personas, so it’s possible to create powerful ones. On top of that, a range of accessories providing special skills in battle have been implemented, increasing the range of tactics in combination with personas.

The Baton Touch which activates when you hit an enemy’s weak element and can create a powerful chain of attacks from different party members has been upgraded. By playing darts with your friends you can improve the rank of your Baton Touch adding more effects like SP recovery and more at the end of the chain.

Interestingly, we learn that there will be new Personas to collect in the game, and we get to see one in the third video that you can find at the bottom of the post.

We also get to see more of the new location in Kichijoji and its attractions including darts, pool, a Jazz club for evening dates, Gessoji Temple (where you can increase your SP), shops (including a vintage clothing shop), and more.

A shorter video published on Twitter showcases the fact that at the end of each battle ammo is recovered, so that’s one thing you don’t need to worry about.

If you want to see more about the game, you also enjoy two recent videos focusing on the new character Kasumi and additions to the battle system.

We then have a recent trailer in English, a batch of gameplay screenshots, the first character trailer focusing on Kasumi the second showcasing Ryuji, the third starring Ann, and the fourth focusing on Yusuke.

On top of that, you can check out more gameplay featuring the Hatsumode visit to the shrine on New Year, quite a few screenshots of the gamea few more gameplay videos, and another batch.

If you’re interested in Persona 5 in general, you should also check out our interview with Good Smile Company on how Ann herself was turned into an adorable Nendoroid.

Persona 5 Royal is releasing in Japan on October 31, 2019, exclusively for PS4, and in the west in 2020.
