Captain Tsubasa: Rise Of New Champions Introduces Brazil With New Screenshots

Today Bandai Namco released a brand new gallery of screenshots and info of its upcoming anime soccer game Captain Tsubasa: Rise Of New Champions.

We finally meet the Brazil Junior Youth team and its players, which are rather central to the story considering Tsubasa’s dream to play in Brazil.

Interestingly, midfielder Luciano Leo and captain Alberto are recognizable from the manga and anime, but traditional genius goalkeeper Salinas appears to have been replaced with the slightly more stereotypical Keizinho.

Another intriguing thing is forward Carlos Bara. While the last name is different, his description definitely matches Carlos Santana from the anime and manga.

I’m not sure why these changes have been made, but you can check out images and official descriptions below.

Carlos Bara

A forward for the Brazilian Junior Youth team. He is known for his tough physique and robot-like precision technique.
He is clinically calm no matter what happens. He is the Football Kingdom’s ace who scores a lot of goals and is determined to win every game.

Luciano Leo

A midfielder for the Brazilian Junior Youth team.
Bara and Leo are a combo and have played together for a long time. He is usually a forward but is a midfielder in this tournament so Bara can perform to his full potential.

Keizinho

The goalkeeper for the Brazilian Junior Youth team.
He saves goals acrobatically with his marvelous reflexes and flexibility.
He never stops smiling as he believes that football should be joyful and fun.

Alberto

A defender and the captain of the Brazilian Junior Youth team. He is a great leader and unites his different teammates together.
He also contributes to the offense as a libero even though he is the most skilled defender in Brazil.

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions releases for PS4, Switch, and PC on August 28 in North America and Europe. Japan will get it one day earlier on August 27.

While the franchise is certainly very well known, not everyone is familiar with it, as its popularity varies considerably from region to region.

While In North America the original Captain Tsubasa anime never rose to relevance, in many European and Latin American countries (and of course, Japan) almost every kid who grew up in the past forty years knows about it.
