Today Square Enix launched a new update for its super-popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, paving the way for the Endwalker expansion that is coming later this year.
On top of that, the official service for the PS5 version has started after a few weeks of open beta testing.
The update isn’t a big download, weighing only 703 megabytes on PC, but it still comes with plenty of content including the following.
- Patch 5.5 Main Scenario, Part II – The second part of this final main scenario update before Endwalker sets the stage for the upcoming expansion in grand fashion.
- YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse – Additional YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse story has been added to this epic crossover questline.
- “Save the Queen” Questline Update – This latest update includes a new field area, “Zadnor,” an increased resistance rank cap of 25, final enhancement of resistance weapons, and new large-scale battle content Dalriada for up to 48 players.
If you haven’t yet tried the PS5 version, which is available at an upgrade for free to anyone who has the PS4 version, here’s what it brings to the table.

Incidentally, the new Final Fantasy XIV expansion Endwalker will release on November 23, 2021 for PS5, PS4, and PC.

If you’re unfamiliar with Final Fantasy XIV, it’s currently available for PlayStation 4, PS5, and PC. The upgrade to PS5 is offered free of charge to those who own the PS4 version.
