Today NIS America released a new trailer of the localization of the upcoming JRPG by FuRyu The Caligula Effect 2, simply titled Caligula 2 in Japan.
The trailer introduces the cast and the virtual world of Redo, and you’d certainly be forgiven if you feel that it’s very familiar, with a lot of similarities with the Persona series. These similarities have been there since the original The Caligula Effect.
That being said, this series certainly has its own unique elements, like the battle system and the strong involvement of music.
You can check the trailer out below.
The Caligula Effect 2 has recently been revealed and it’ll be released in Japan on June 24 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. At the moment, the western release is simply slated for fall 2021 for the same platforms.
Western gamers will have to wait a bit longer, but we already know that it’s coming to North America and Europe in Fall 2021 for the same platforms, courtesy of NIS America.
Here’s how the publisher describes it, while you can watch plenty of gameplay and a trailer and another trailer focusing on Machina, one starring Pandora, one focusing on MU-Kun, one showing #QP, one starring Doctor, one revealing Kranke, one showcasing Kudan, one focusing on Bluffman, and lots of screenshots.
“A virtuadoll named Regret has created the world of Redo in order to save people from their past regrets by unknowingly imprisoning them in a simulation. However, this “paradise” is shaken to the core when a virtual idol named χ breaks into Regret’s virtual reality and restores a high school student’s memories of the real world. In order to escape Redo, they re-establish the Go-Home Club, a resistance group that seeks to fight against Regret and her enforcers, the Obbligato Musicians.”
