During a livestream hosted by NetherRealm Studios, the developers of Mortal Kombat 11 provided another extensive look at some of the characters of the game.
We get to see the newly-revealed Kitana in action, showing off her brutal gameplay, including one of her tournament loadouts.
Then we move on to Cetrion, who was also recently-revealed as a completely new character. She is an elder god and she is defined as one of the most powerful characters introduced in the game, which is pretty appropriate for an elder goddess. She rules over nature and the elements, so she has a lot of tools at her fingertips.
Lastly, we move on to D’vorah and her insect-based moves. Apparently, she loves to use her babies at weapons.
Interestingly, we also heard about microtransactions: the currency is named Time Crystals, and they let you “shortcut your way” to cosmetic elements. This includes skins, gear (which has no stats in this game), intros, victory poses and more. There are no pay-to-win microtransactions or gameplay advantage that can be acquired with Time Crystals in the game and everything you can get with time crystals can be acquired simply by playing the game.
Nothing in the game actually requires Time Crystals, and you can play the whole game and unlock everything without buying them. They’re simply a shortcut, and they’re also going to drop in the game itself so players that don’t want to spend real money can still experiment with them and “see if they like them.”
There are also no loot boxes at all in Mortal Kombat 11.
