Yoko Taro Reaches Level 50 in Final Fantasy XIV in Preparation for Nier: Automata Raid

NieR: Automata director Yoko Taro has been working on a Final Fantasy XIV raid titled YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse, and actually started to play the games himself to learn the ropes.

Last month, we reported how his newbie character reached level 30 among hardships and revelations about the passionate fanbase of the game, yet the popular game developer has not given up.

Recently, he reported about reaching a major milestone, level 50.

“Final Fantasy XIV Progress. Level 50.

I heard “the content roulette is good for leveling up.” I went through the content roulette with the same feeling as “I went the onsen because it’s good for rheumatism.”

I ended up in “The Sunken Temple of Qarn” and I got into a lot of trouble. We wiped again and again and again… Yet we somehow managed to clear it… It was like a boiling hot spring of hell.”

That’s a colorful comparison right there, Yoko-san, but indeed the Sunken Temple of Qarn can be hard on newcomers. I’m proud of you!

Jokes aside, I can’t help enjoying mental images of Yoko Taro being his usual adorable self while fumbling around the dark hallways of the derelict temple, trying his best to dodge Final Stings and laser beams of death. It’s just too cute.

It’s also interesting to see that he isn’t using the paid “Tales of Adventure” items that would allow him to skip the leveling-up process all the way to 60.

Honestly, I can’t wait to experience YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse, even more so now that I know that it’ll be the fruit of its author going through what we all did when we were newbies.

If you want to know more about Final Fantasy XIV and its upcoming expansion Shadowbringers, you can check out the latest information on the new races, the reveals from Tokyo FanFest including the Dancer job and the Hrothgar race an official batch of screenshots, and a look on how the new city of Crystarium has been created.

If you’d like to get ready before the expansion’s release and follow Yoko Taro’s footsteps, Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is currently available for PS4 and PC, and a few more updates are coming. A free login campaign is currently in effect. Just be careful about Final Sting. That hurts.

Shadowbringers will officially release on July 2 for PS4 and PC.
