Jump Force and Nintendo Switch Top Japanese Market According to Media Create

Today is Wednesday, which means that we’re in for a new round of Media Create charts, painting the scenario for the Japanese video game marked in the week between Feb. 11 and Feb. 17.

This time around the chart is quite interesting, as it shows the release performance of quite a few relevant games, including Jump Force and Catherine: Full Body.

Below you can check out the software chart, keeping in mind that the second number for each game represent lifetime sales where applicable.

  1. Jump Force – PS4 – 76,894/New
  2. Catherine: Full Body – PS4 – 51,824/New
  3. New Super Mario Bros U. Deluxe – Switch – 34,541/431,771
  4. Super Smash Bros. Infinite – Switch – 29,843/2,860,986
  5. Far Cry New Dawn – PS4 – 26,285/New
  6. Kingdom Hearts III – PS4 – 19,265/755,810
  7. Metro Exodus – PS4 – 17,513/New
  8. Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee – Switch – 15,287/1,490,789
  9. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Switch – 12,249/2,133,021
  10. Resident Evil 2 – PS4 – 11,636/338,492
  11. Super Mario Party – Switch – 10,942/1,018,889
  12. Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi with Power-Up Kit – PS4 – 10,326/New
  13. Catherine: Full Body – PS Vita – 9,241/New
  14. Minecraft – Switch – 8,905/607,502
  15. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Switch – 8,235/1,292,065
  16. Splatoon 2 – Switch – 7,193/2,932,629
  17. Kiniro no Corda: Octave – PS Vita – 4,585/New
  18. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown – 4,250/249,839
  19. Dragon Quest Builders 2 – Switch – 3,758/231,659
  20. Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi with Power-Up Kit – Switch – 3,705/New

And here is the hardware chart.

  1. Switch: 65,958
  2. PS4: 11,792
  3. PS4 Pro: 7,892
  4. New 2DS XL: 3,358
  5. PS Vita: 1,767
  6. New 3DS XL: 1,254
  7. 2DS: 142
  8. Xbox One X: 55
  9. Xbox One: 13

While the Nintendo Switch keeps selling really well after the Holiday season, shrinking the PS4’s installed base advantage down to 440,000 units, the top of the software chart is occupied by two games on Sony’s console.

Jump force enjoys a pretty solid launch, even if perhaps a bit on the average side compared to the popularity of the franchises it includes.

On the other hand, Catherine: Full Body can be defined as a winner. Japanese gamers are normally very indifferent to remasters and partial remakes (unless we’re talking about super-popular franchises). As a niche game, Catherine sold over 60,000 copies between PS4 and PS Vita, and that’s certainly flattering given the nature of the title.
