Today, during its “Panel from Hell” Larian Studios provided more news about the upcoming RPG Baldur’s Gate 3.
We learn that the game begins in Avernus (the topmost layer of hell) right in the middle of the Blood War between devils and demons.
The game happens after the Dungeons & Dragons Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus module.
We also get to see the recruitment of a really… peculiar follower.
Of course, beside Avernus, there’s a lot of gameplay on the surface of Faerun and we’ll also visit the Underdark.
Early access will be capped at level 4, which is actually quite advanced, letting you choose a subclass and a feat.
Co-op multiplayer will be available at some point in early access, and the developers also plan to add split-screen as development progresses.
More gameplay showcases familiars and the “Speak with the Dead” spell.
Romance is also a “huge part of the game” and the campsite “gets a little hot at times.”
Last, but not least, we learn that the early access is targeting a September 30 release both on PC and Stadia.
It’s worth mentioning that the early access may still be possibly delayed if optimization causes issues. That being said, the team is feeling “moderately optimistic.”
You can watch the full panel below including an extended cinematic trailer and plenty of gameplay.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will ultimately release for PC and Stadia when it’s ready. At the moment, Larian Studio isn’t talking about additional platforms.
Here’s how the developer describes the game.
“Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.
From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.”
