Who Are the Fatui in Genshin Impact?

In case you aren’t familiar with the Fatui, we will first discuss their role in Genshin Impact and their overall significance to the story.

As one of the game’s main antagonists, the sinister group has plotted many evil schemes and used their mighty army to enforce their superiority. For instance, in Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III, “A New Star Approaches,” the Traveler goes against Childe, a member of the Fatui that betrays them to gain the location of the Golden House.

This diplomatic faction also stems from the Zapolyarny Palace of Snezhnaya, under the rule of Tsaritsa, the Cyro Archon. Although her true intentions remain a mystery, players can glean a few hints about her mission throughout the game, including one of her narrations about a selected item.

When looking at the Shivada Jade Gemstone description, Tsaritsa says, “Then, burn away the old world for me.” So, this statement could indicate her quest for a perfect universe, even if it means sacrificing the lives of others.

All Fatui Harbingers in Genshin Impact, Explained

Alongside the faction’s leader are the Fatui Harbingers, a team of highly-skilled commanders. These lieutenants are considered extremely strong and talented due to their use of Delusions, an energy source that can overpower Vision users.

Even though they are an infamous group known throughout the land, Travelers have only encountered a few of them, such as Childe and La Signora. But, now that the Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser: A Winter Night’s Lazzo has been released, we can uncover more information about the Fatui members.

Here is a list of all 11 Fatui Harbingers in Genshin Impact and their role in the story.

Pulcinella/The Rooster

One of the first Fatui Harbingers revealed in the latest trailer is Pulcinella, the fifth member of the legendary group. On top of this worthy rank, he is also the mayor of the Snezhnaya and the person who is responsible for bringing in Childe.

Although details about The Rooster are vague, we can assume he holds some authority since the trailer shows him instructing everyone to halt work for half a day (after La Signora has died).

Columbina/Damselette

In Columbina’s first appearance, we see the character resting her head on top of Signora’s coffin, suggesting that the two had a strong connection. You can also hear Damselette’s voice near the end of the teaser when she tells The Doctor, “I must say, you’re looking very young today.”

By looking at Childe’s Voice-Overs, we learn that Columbina is not as harmless as she seems, mainly because he says something is off about her and to be careful when she is near.

Pantalone/Regrator

The ninth member of the 11 Fatui Harbingers, Pantalone, is famous for his economical skills and intricate policies in Snezhnaya. If you’ve spent some time in Liyue Harbor, you may have seen a brief dialogue about the wealthy man when Andrei praises Pantalone’s brilliance and foresight with money.

Even if this is our first time seeing him, his presence still lingers throughout many quests of Genshin Impact. For example, Regrator paid a large amount of money to use Mondstadt’s Goth Grand Hotel for a Fatui base of operations.

Arlecchino/The Knave

Arlecchino makes her mark in the latest trailer when she retaliates against Pulcinella and Pantalone’s business tactics. According to The Very Special Fortune Slip World Quest, she owns an orphanage called the “House of Hearth,” where one of the characters regards her as kind.

On the contrary, Childe has stated that he doesn’t like her because of her arrogance and selfishness. He also believes that she would betray their great Archon leader, Tsaritsa, as long as it benefits her.

Tartaglia/Childe

Childe is one of the few Fatui members Travelers meet and the 11th member of the faction. At the beginning of the Archon Quests, he misleads the Traveler and Paimon, gaining their trust once he helps them escape from Liyue.

As mentioned before, Tartaglia eventually betrays the player and reveals a Fatui plot against Rex Lapis (also known as Zhongli). However, later down the line, he tells the Traveler that their fight was “nothing personal” and they just have different views.

Il Capitano/The Captain

Despite not knowing much about The Captain, we have seen the character referenced in a couple of missions within Genshin Impact. In one of the Daily Commissions, a Fatui member tells the Traveler and Paimon that he’d rather work for The Captain than Signora.

In another occurrence, Childe seeks to gain his respect in battle and highly regards his combat strength within his Voice-Overs.

Il Dottore/The Doctor

Because of his odd experiments and lack of empathy for humanity, The Doctor has gained an unfavorable reputation. In the latest trailer, we see him holding a mysterious substance and discussing a plan to take over the Divine Gaze.

The Director of the Fatui, Pierro, recruited the Doctor, promising a wide variety of research for his projects. In addition, Childe expresses a rumor about him, explaining how he created artificial versions of himself to do specific tasks.

Sandrone/Marionette

Within the Teyvat Chapter Interlude teaser, Sandrone regards the fighting between Arlecchino, Pulcinella, and Pantalone as “utterly risible.” But, besides this interaction, we don’t know much about her other than Childe’s description.

Tartaglia claims that Marionette is constantly annoyed by his presence and feels like she wants to murder him. Moreover, he talks about her obsession with robot studies, which we can see in the latest trailer since a mechanical being accompanies her.

Scaramouche/Balladeer

Balladeer interacts with the Traveler and Paimon during the Unreconciled Stars event as an antagonist of the story. While Travelers play through this quest, he will unexpectedly attack the character once he learns their identity.

After failing to eliminate the player, he seeks to find the Electro Gnosis, a powerful tool The Seven uses. As a result, he betrays the Fatui Harbingers and takes off with the item, in spite of Childe’s efforts to find him and being the sixth member of the faction.

La Signora/The Fair Lady

Raiden Shogun executed the eighth member of the notorious Fatui group after a showdown with the Traveler. Because of Signora’s untimely demise, the Fatui Harbingers come together to mourn her loss, igniting the fire to carry out Tsaritsa’s mission for a “peaceful” world.

Before her death, she was featured in multiple adventures within Genshin Impact, including her first appearance in the third act of the Prologue. Moreover, she always had several snarky comments to say to the Traveler and is responsible for misdeeds in the storyline, like when she strikes Venti, the Anemo Archon.

Pierro/The Jester

Pierro certainly made his presence known in the latest trailer as the leader of the Fatui Harbingers and the first of its members. He is also the mastermind for many of the group’s strategies, such as their infiltration into Inazuma and sending Balladeer to Liyue.

When examining the teaser, he mentions a plan to “seize authority from the gods” to carry out the will of their Majesty Tsaritsa. Additionally, he believes these actions will cause absolute peace for the universe if they eliminate the world’s all-powerful beings.
