As with all major Cities Skylines DLC, the Airports expansion will be accompanied by a free update that will bring new features to the base game.
Today Paradox Entertainment released a video spelling exactly that update, and there are several interesting elements that will help virtual city planners whether they’re purchasing the DLC or not.
Those include new landscaping elements, the ability to swap trees lining the roads, purchasing soil, and an overhaul of transport AI, with aircraft not getting stuck in the air anymore, and ships and trains coming less often but with more passengers.
You can check out the video below. You can also watch the previous video covering the basics, another focusing on progression, one featuring public transportation, another showcasing more gameplay, and one focusing on cargo airports.
Cities Skylines is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
The Airports DLC will come on January 25 for all platforms. You can also take a look at the Creators Pack DLCs coming at the same time.
Here’s how Paradox (briefly) officially describes the expansion:
“The Airports expansion allows you to build your own airport areas, set up gates and connect them via concourse networks. Design your dream airports, from small airfields to large international hubs.”
