More goodies are on the way for those hoping to get more military aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
According to the developer, a “major breakthrough” in development has been achieved, and you can read all about it in the full message under the gallery below.
“Major breakthrough this week, as I have ( with assistance ) finally fully understood the template structure of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and been able to both fully utilise the system as well as create my own templates for custom animations. This is quite a big deal, for me anyway, as it opens up the entire simulator now for the current and future projects, and will certainly allow me to bring all planned aircraft into MSFS as we head into 2021.
F-15E cockpit is now pretty much complete, along with all switches, dials, buttons and animations. The successes of this week now mean that the controls in the WSO position are also fully functional, so the aircraft ( and the F-15D trainer ) can be flown from the rear-seat position if desired.
The Eagles are now nearing completion, and I’m now spending more time looking at what I can improve.
Textures are top of the list, with the cockpit interior likely to get a 4K makeover. All cockpit texts are now high-resolution decals for clarity, so it’s on to the surfaces and weathering to hopefully really give the aircraft a facelift prior to launch in January 2021.
Flight testing is now also progressing well, with aerodynamics being improved and enhanced with each flight.
Next week I hope to bring images of the finished Eagles ( all types ) with the following update featuring all the projects for 2021.”

Speaking of Microsoft Flight Simulator in general, during a livestreamed event earlier this week, the developers shared a lot of details about the future of the sim, including the next world update focusing on the United Kingdom.
