The crowdfunding campaign has now passed $3 million (it’s at $3,097,425 at the moment of this writing) which means that plenty more stretch goals have been achieved over the weekend.

The game’s 107th hero, Gocteau, has been unlocked and you can see his art at the bottom of the post. The 108th heroine, Iris, is also on the menu, even if her art has not been revealed yet. And yes, number 108 is rather special.

We’re also getting the Hot Springs feature, a monster rising minigame, and Russian localization.

More stretch goals have been revealed. $3.1 million will unlock voice acting for cutscenes, and $3.125 million will unlock the 109th hero titled “Dead of Night,” whose design will be voted by the backers.

$3.175 million will unlock a yet unexplained “Show Your Allegiance” goal, and $3.25 million comes with “We Have Technology.”

Here are a few notes about the new goals.

  • Iris Joins – A gifted and passionate architect, Iris received her education from a prestigious university. While a wonderful conversationalist, it’s hard to get her to stop when the topic of architecture arises. Iris’ inclusion in the game brings the total number of heroes to a magical 108.
  • Russian Language – At this stretch goal, we will add support for Russian localization to the final game.
  • Voice in Cutscenes – At this stretch goal, we’ll add voice acting to pivotal story cutscenes adding life and emotion to the trials and tribulations of Nowa and the crew. You’ll even be able to choose between English and Japanese voices via the in-game options!
  • Character 9 Joins – There’s no mistaking that this “person” is dark and monstrous in nature. No one knows what secrets this macabre character hides, but his visage while be chosen by you, dear backer. Choose wisely. This soldier of the night joining your army will bring the total number of heroes to a never-before-seen 109.

We also get an update that provided some details on the minigames that will be included in Eiyuden Chronicle.

“Fishing

Once the player reaches a certain point in the game, they will meet a hero who knows how to fish, thus allowing them to access the fishing game. There are many different fishing spots all over Allraan, each featuring different fish. You’ll even find some bizarre fish with human faces.

Successfully catching lots of fish will require skill not just as a gamer, but knowledge in terms of selecting the right bait for the fish, and acquiring better fishing rods. Fish you catch can be made into cooking ingredients or sold for high prices.

The fortress town will also eventually acquire strange fishing spots that contain fish from all over the world.

Beigoma

In Allraan, beigoma has been popular with people of all ages for a long time. Shops in town sell beigoma starter kits, customization kits, and other various beigoma-related merchandise.

When you start playing beigoma, various other beigoma players will challenge you to duels. Skill tournaments will also be held. You’ll meet up with famous beigoma players, learn different skills, and gain many different opportunities to prove to the world that you’re the best beigoma player there is.

Trading

Merchants in Allraan travel across political borders to do business, and the player can also acquire trading goods at various trading posts in towns and villages. The price of each trading good will change depending on the time and place. Buying low and selling high can help make your adventure go much more smoothly!

Once you acquire the fortress town and find some heroes with a knack for trading, you can open a trading post in your own town.

Eggleg Racing

Eggleg races provide another source of entertainment in Allraan. Races are held in large towns, and lots of people gamble on the eggleg they think will win. Players can also take part in the gambling.

Once you acquire a fortress town and find an eggleg trainer, you’ll be able to raise and breed your own egglegs, then send them out to race.

Eggleg Trainer

Once you acquire the fortess town and find an eggleg trainer, you’ll be able to raise your own egglegs. Egglegs can be found on your adventure or bought directly from breeders.

Aside from raising and breeding your egglegs, you can also send them out to races. If you raise up a talented eggleg and it wins a lot of races, you’ll become world-famous as a talented trainer (and earn tons of prize money, of course).”

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes’ campaign was launched on Kickstarter less than a couple of weeks ago, reaching its basic founding goal in two hours and unlocking console platforms shortly after.

As usual, the success of this campaign shouldn’t be too surprising considering that it brings back together Suikoden creators Yoshitaka Murayama and Junko Kawano, and appears to be a spiritual successor of the popular franchise.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will come to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and a possible next-gen Nintendo platform in fall 2022.

You can still contribute to the campaign yourself at the official Kickstarter site. Speaking of Kickstarter, for the sake of full disclosure, you should keep in mind that the author of this article is among the backers of the game.
