This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Back at E3 2018, Koei Tecmo revealed NiOh 2 as a follow-up to the critically acclaimed NiOh but didn’t say much about it since. Looks like the wait is close to its end according to Director Fumihiko Yasuda, who talked about it in a New Year special on the Japanese website 4Gamer.

Yasuda-san mentioned that he’s working diligently on NiOh’s sequel and that he thinks he’ll be able to provide an update in early 2019.

He wasn’t the only one at Koei Tecmo who provided teases on things to come.

Koei Tecmo President Hisashi Koinuma mentioned that he’s also at work as a Producer after his latest title Attack on Titan 2. He expects to be able to present his new game in 2019. Speaking of Attack on Titan 2, its Director Hideaki Suzuki also mentioned that he is currently working on his next game and he is looking forward to its reveal. At the moment we don’t know if they’re talking about the same title.

The publisher’s top boss Kou Shibusawa explained that in 2019 he would like to make use of artificial intelligence to create an interesting game different from what was released before. This may be referring to the partnership with the AI development studio HEROZ happened about a year ago. They’re known for their work on artificial intelligence and machine learning, and KT announced back then that this technology would be used for future games.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Producer Akihiro Suzuki mentioned that following the release of the game the team received a lot of feedback from the fans, and they’re planning to consider it seriously and apply it to future games. He hopes to be able to share a variety of developments for the Dynasty Warriors series in 2019. Director Atsushi Miyauchi mentioned that 2019 is the 19th anniversary of the series, and the team is working hard to create something big, while a relevant milestone will come with the 20th anniversary.

Warriors Orochi 4 Producer Masaki Furusawa he’s also at work on “new things.” Those are not at a stage in which they can be revealed just yet, but he hopes that fans will look forward to them.

Atelier Producer Keisuke Kikuchi mentioned that after the release of Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland in March the team will proceed to development towards the announcement of the next title. There are multiple things in store for next year, and he plans to treasure them one by one. Junzo Hosoi, also Producer on the Atelier series, echoed this sentiment, mentioning that various new titles are being planned.

Last, but not least, Omega Force Boss Kenichi Ogasawara feels that between 2019 and 2020 there will be big announcements related to new hardware platforms.

Incidentally, we learned earlier today that Koei Tecmo is preparing the Warriors Festival 2019 for March, and some of those teases might be turned into announcements then.
