Ubisoft Has Revealed Its E3 Line-Up and New Games Are Coming

Ubisoft has released a hype trailer reminding viewers of its conference last year and detailing what’s to come this year–it also teased some new game announcements as well.

In the trailer, clips of last year’s Far Cry 5, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and other game reveals are shown. It’s not until the end of the video that Ubisoft reveals what it’s bringing to E3 this year.

In a strange conversation between what appears to be the Ubisoft boss, who is referred to as LegitBoss2018 in the video, and a bot, a few games are confirmed to be on stage this year. Those games are Beyond Good & Evil 2, For Honor, Rainbow 6 Siege, Skull & Bones, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, Starlink: Battle for Atlas and Transference.

Earlier this month, For Honor’s Creative Director, Roman Campos-Oriola teased that For Honor news was coming to E3. We also already knew that The Division 2 was a thing when Ubisoft announced last March that the game was, in fact, happening, and that more details would come at E3. Finally, thanks to a livestream that occurred earlier this month, we know Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be at E3. The rest of these games, though, were up in the air.

Rainbow 6 Siege was a given, though. That game is still going strong nearly three years after its release and there’s no reason for Ubisoft to slow that train down just yet.

If you don’t remember what Transference is, it’s that strange and trippy VR game (but it’s not exclusive to VR) Ubisoft revealed at its conference last year. It’s being developed in partnership with SpectreVision, a company created by some Hollywood people–including Elijah Wood–in an effort to bridge the gap between video games and Hollywood. Ubisoft themselves describes the game as a dark, psychologically-thrilling puzzle. Regardless of if it rings a bell to you or not, you’ll learn more about it at E3.

The other game you might not recognize is Starlink: Battle for Atlas. It’s an action-adventure sci-fi game where you build ships, both in the game and in real life–in a toys-to-life kind of way–and fight with them in space battles. It will be interesting to see how a new toys-to-life game fairs in the current climate.

Skull & Bones is the non-Assassin’s Creed pirate game. It’s being developed by Ubisoft Singapore, the studio responsible for all of the naval activity in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, and as of now, is a game that takes place solely on the water. In fact, you aren’t even necessarily a character but rather, a ship. Simply put, Skull & Bones is a mostly-multiplayer game (although, a single-player mode will be included) that takes the ship battles from Black Flag and turns it into a full game.

Now, at the end of the video, the boss asks if Ubisoft will announce any new games. The bot replies with, “I’m an AI assistant, not a fortune teller…But, Ubisoft usually likes to save a few surprises for the show.”

This all but confirms that we’ll be seeing some new games announced.
