Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, revealed more about the highly anticipated sequel. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the two explained that players will be able to customize your new kid on the block as a girl. If you decide to play as a girl, Cartman and the other guys will interact with your character in a different way.

Stone expanded more on why South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be the first game to feature this option, saying “the boys are little boys, because it’s really a story about little boys running around.” He continued by saying the characters in the game would definitely care about if there was a girl in their midst, since “they always seemed to care about it in the show.”

Additionally, the two also opened up about their options besides making another video game. The duo state Ubisoft came to them after the launch of South Park: The Stick of Truth and asked to make another one. Stone and Parker instead expressed interest in making a movie. However, when settling on the premise for The Fractured But Whole, Parker had this to say:

“And we started talking: “If we did a game, what would it be? We have all this superhero sh–. It could be the next day.” If we did it, what would it be? What would we call it? We came up with the title The Fractured But Whole. And we were like: “That’s such a sweet title, dude. We’ve gotta make this game. For nothing else than that we could walk around E3 and see The Fractured But Whole in huge flashing letters. Millions of dollars in The Fractured But Whole.”
