Satomi-san responded to a related question during a Q&A session hosted on Wednesday, and just published in transcript form.

He mentioned that reviews on websites praised the game and the price was affordable, so sales were significantly higher than expected.

He also added that in the future Sega would like to actively promote the porting of previously-released titles to Steam and to new platforms.

For new games, Sega is negotiating with platform holders in order to achieve favorable sale conditions, among which would be developing the PC version from the onset and considering multiplatform.

Sega has been talking about empowering its multiplatform strategy within its financials for a while, including the latest.

It’s quite possible that Persona 4 Golden served as a positive test to convince the company that it’s a good idea to release both old and new games on more platforms.

The Yakuza series has already expanded considerably across platforms, with Yakuza: Like a Dragon being the culmination of such a strategy by launching in the west on basically everything excluding the Switch.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne is coming in remastered form for PS4 and Switch and the developers of Sakura Wars told us that they’re “actively researching” the expansion of the game to new audiences in a recent interview.
