Epic Games revealed the start date for Season 6 of Fortnite: Battle Royale on Twitter today, saying the new season will begin next week on Thursday, Sept. 27.
No other information was given about the new season, though the studio said that teasers would be coming out sometime next week. Season 5 and its Battle Pass are scheduled to end on Monday, Sept. 24, which would give a three-day break between the seasons.
Epic is kicking off the end of the latest season with an additional 400% Match XP bonus for all players beginning now and lasting throughout the weekend. The bonus should help players unlock the last couple tiers of their Battle Pass, though the game is currently selling a pack of 10 unlocked tiers for 900 V-bucks. The bonus XP weekend will end at 8 a.m. ET on Sept. 24, same day as the end of Season 5.
Fortnite: Battle Royale has been continually updated all season with new weapons, new events, and changes to its one map. The mysterious purple cube that has been roaming around the map since late-August finally hit its destination earlier this week, turning a lake into a giant trampoline. Meanwhile, the Close Encounters limited-time mode surprisingly returned yesterday with a few changes since its very brief introduction last May.
