Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal Gets a New Teaser Trailer Ahead of E3

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

E3 season is well under way and one of one of the games everyone’s eager to learn more about is id Software and Bethesda’s Doom Eternal. With only a few days to go until Bethesda’s conference on June 9, the game released a short teaser trailer on Twitter.

There’s not a lot revealed by the video, but we are treated to some ominous environmental shots.“What you interfere with now is bigger than you imagine,” a mysterious voice tells us, although that probably won’t stop our protagonist.

The sequel to 2016’s viscerally popular Doom, Doom Eternal is set to release later this year and is being developed for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.

You play once more as the Doom Slayer, as the game picks up where its predecessor leaves off. The only difference is that this time the game’s story takes place on Earth as it’s invaded by the forces of Hell. It’s up to you once again to stop them and, while most of the game is set on Earth, it looks like some parts may take place on Mars’ inner moon Phobos.

This installment is set to feature some new mechanics. The Doom Slayer is equipped with the Crucible Blade and arm-blade, granting him ever bloodier Glory Kills, in addition to his classic chainsaw. While playing, you can navigate through the world using a grappling hook called the Meat Hook, which you can also use on enemies.

Doom Eternal will also feature a Dark Souls-esque invasion system that allows players to control a demon and use it to attack another player, which of course also works the other way around. Unlike Dark Souls however, invasions can be turned off, though developer id Software hopes that players power through.

This teaser trailer may just be a few snippets of what we can expect from Doom Eternal, but its enough to keep us going until Bethesda’s E3 conference, where we can expect much more. Don’t miss the conference on June 9 at 17:30 PT/20:30 ET. You can watch the livestream on Bethesda’s Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Mixer.
