Blue Protocol Alpha Gameplay Looks Absolutely Spectacular; Shows City, World, and Combat [UPDATED]

The closed alpha test of Bandai Namco’s anime-like MMORPG Blue Protocol has started, and footage is starting to filter online.

Two new videos come courtesy of YouTube user DOKURO, showing two nice chunks of raw gameplay.

We get to see the starting city, which looks absolutely beautiful, a look at the rest of the world, which appears to be quite open but divided into zones, and plenty of combat, including dungeons and a world boss.

Incidentally, while it’s defined an “online RPG,” Blue Protocol definitely appears to be a full-fledged MMORPG.

You can check it out below, but you better watch it quickly, because I am not sure whether the videos will stay up.

Update: one of the videos has already been removed, so you may want to enjoy the second while it’s up.

Update 2: Unfortunately both videos were taken down.

If you want to see more, you can watch the initial announcement trailer and the first screenshots, and the second batch of screenshotsanother gallery, a look at the Aegis Fighter class, one at the Twin Striker class, the first look at the Blast Archer, and the reveal of the Spellcaster.

You can also enjoy videos of the character creation for an older guy, a cute girl, and a pair featuring a boy and a sexy older sister-type.

Blue Protocol is an online JRPG in development for PC by a team named Project Blue Sky, which is a joint initiative of Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios. At the moment, there is no set release date.

A western localization has also not been announced, but the initial press release mentioned that the goal is to “impress the world” so we can definitely hope to play it in English at some point.
