Today Sony announced the acquisition of another developer for its growing PlayStation Studios.
The newly-acquired team is Valkyrie Entertainment, as announced by PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst.
Based in Seattle, Washington, Valkyrie has worked mostly in a support role, but is known for developing Guns Up! for PS4 and PC.
It also worked on God of War mostly on level design, the Forza Motorsport franchise on track design, and on several aspects of Riot Games’ titles.
You can find the original announcement below.
This certainly isn’t the first acquisition done by Sony Interactive Entertainment in recent months. The house of PlayStation has been shopping, bringing in the fold Housemarque, Bluepoint, and Firesprite in rapid succession.
Recent acquisitions allowed PlayStation Studios to increase their development workforce by almost 20%, and it appears that Sony is investing heavily in improving its game creation capabilities.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see if more acquisitions are incoming. Of course, we’ll keep you informed here on Twinfinite if any further announcements are made, while more information about general plans could be shared during the next quarterly financial conference call, which will happen at the beginning of February.
