Star Citizen Devs Announce Eye Tracking Support via Partnership with Tobii

Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games revealed a new feature that will soon be added to the growing space simulator.

Thanks to a partnership with eye-tracking hardware manufacturer Tobii, Star Citizen will support eye-tracking from the upcoming update Alpha 3.12: Assault on Stanton (incidentally, I believe this is the first time we hear the official title of the update).

To celebrate the partnership, Star Citizen players will receive a 10% discount on the Tobii Eye Tracker 5 hardware.

The press release included a comment from Cloud Imperium Games CEO and Star Citizen creative director Chris Roberts:

“Flying and ship-to-ship combat is a critical part of the Star Citizen experience – and Tobii eye tracking hardware makes that experience much more immersive. We look forward to working with our partners at Tobii to expand eye tracking features and functionality over time.”

Anand Srivatsa, Division CEO of Tobii Tech also commented:

“We are thrilled to add Star Citizen to our growing library of titles that support our eye tracking technology.

Whether you are aiming to improve reaction times and precision or looking for a more immersive and comfortable way to explore and enjoy gaming, Tobii offers a new way to experience your favorite games.”
