The Outer Worlds is getting DLC after all. Developer Obsidian’s action-RPG wasn’t scheduled for any additional content at launch, but it seems the game’s success has tipped the balance in favor of continuing the story of the Halycon company; social media manager Sylvia took to The Outer Worlds’ forums late last week to confirm DLC is planned for 2020.
Shyla’s forum post reads:
“To all of those who voted for us in The Game Awards, you are all fantastic and we are so grateful for your support. The reception to The Outer Worlds has been unbelievable to see, and even just being nominated means a lot. However, the journey isn’t over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year! Details will be made available at a later date.”
There’s no word on what sort of content we can expect, but knowing the Obsidian team it’ll be a fully-fledged story-driven experience that continues the same old-school RPG philosophy The Outer Worlds puts front and center.
It’ll be interesting to see whether the team goes with a season pass style or just builds the expansions individually.
