Azur Lane: Crosswave

Azur Lane: Crosswave for PS4 Gets New Gameplay Showing Story and Battle

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Compile Heart is continuing to show large slices of gameplay of its upcoming Azur Lane console game Azur Lane: Crosswave.

Recommended Videos

This time around we get two videos. The first shows our brand new heroines Suruga and Shimakaze as they meet Ping Hai, while the second showcases the opening ceremony of the joint military exercise, on top of a training battle against “Senpai Ayanami” who offers to test the skills of our shipgirls.

Yes. That cat-eared chibi destroyer is our senpai. Let this sink.

A lot of popular ships like Bismark, Hood, Enterprise, Akagi, Javelin, and more also appear for the party.

You can check the videos out below. Keep in mind that they’re marked for spoilers, but they’re mild at worst if you don’t understand Japanese. This is also the very beginning of the game.

As usual, Compile Heart is showing a lot before launch, so I have to wonder just how big the game it is.

If you want to see more gameplay, you should definitely check out a video showing a battle released last week, and two more videos, showcasing both normal and hard mode, on top of some more story. The previous video of the series also showcased Suruga and Shimakaze helping out some Royal Navy shipgirls at the airport.

Azur Lane: Crosswave will launch on the Japanese shelves on August 29, 2019, for PS4. A western release has recently been announced for 2020.

If you’re unfamiliar with the original Azur Lane game, it’s a free-to-play mobile horizontal scrolling shooter/RPG hybrid currently available for iOS and Android.

If you’re interested in the franchise as a whole, you can also check out our report of the event Yostar organized in Yokosuka, Japan.
