Fortnite’s 14 Days of Summer is well and truly underway, with players having visited beach parties, bounced a giant beach ball, popped party balloons, and even searched unicorn floaties. The next challenge players have to do is to “Hit a Player with a Water Balloon.” So, let’s talk you through everything you need to know about this Fortnite water balloon challenge.
How to Get Water Balloons in Fortnite
First things first, you’ll need to actually get your hands on this new toy. You unlock the water balloon toy in Fortnite by completing the ’14 Days of Summer’ challenge to get five Eliminations with the Daily Unvaulted Weapon or a Drumgun.
Once you’ve completed this challenge, you’ll be able to assign it to any of your six preferred emote slots, or just find it within your emote wheel in-game.
How to Hit a Player with a Water Balloon in Fortnite’s 14 Days of Summer
Now that you’ve got these summery throwables in Fortnite, to hit players all you need to do is bring up the emote wheel by pressing down on the d-pad or B on your keyboard if you’re playing on PC. After doing this, simply select the water balloon and press A or left mouse click on it to select and throw it.
It’s worth keeping in mind that you’ll need to aim your throw before selecting the water balloon from the emote wheel, or at least be prepared to make a quick adjustment to your aim as soon as you’ve selected it before the animation plays.
Tips to Hit Players with Water Balloons Easily
To make hitting a player with a balloon that little bit easier, there are a couple of things you can do. First, the challenge doesn’t specify that it has to be an opponent you hit. As such, you can always hop into either a Duos, Squads, or even a Team Rumble game and throw a balloon at a teammate to get this completed easily.
Alternatively, it’s also possible to just complete this Fortnite water balloons challenge by simply throwing one at another player while you’re in the pre-game lobby on Starter Island. All of the controls are the exact same, but you can’t be killed mid-throw, making this a ton easier to complete.
That’s everything you need to know on how to hit a player with a water balloon in Fortnite’s 14 Days of Summer event. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check out our ever-expanding Season 9 guide wiki.
