Shiny Meltan Returning to Pokemon GO for a Limited Time

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The Pokemon Go Team has just announced that Shiny Meltan will be returning to the game for a limited time. From Wednesday, April 24, at 4:00 PM EDT (1:00 PM PDT) to Sunday, May 5, at 4:00 PM EDT (1:00 PM PDT) you may find one of these rare creatures in the Mystery Box.

To help trainers find a Shiny Meltan more easily you will now be able to open the Mystery Box every three days instead of every seven. This change will go into effect on April 24 but will still be in place after May 5.

If you do not have the Mystery Box, you will need to send one of your Pokemon from GO to either Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! on a Nintendo Switch.

For anyone unfamiliar with Meltan, the Pokemon Let’s Go website provides the following description:

“Most of Meltan’s body is made from liquid metal, and its shape is very fluid. It can use its liquid arms and legs to corrode metal and absorb it into its own body. Meltan generates electricity using the metal it absorbs from outside sources. It uses this electricity as an energy source and also as an attack that can be fired from its eye. Clearly a curious Pokémon, Meltan is very expressive and shows an interest in all kinds of things.”

It is worth remembering that Meltan can be evolved into Melmetal, so you might want to start stockpiling Meltan candies for when you catch a Shiny version.
