The game also had an impressive showing on the October NPD list ranking as the 5th highest selling game of the month, and that was without counting any of the game’s digital sales. Seeing as Super Mario Party was sharing the month with Red Dead Redemption 2, Black Ops IIII and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, this was a strong showing.

This sales milestone also comes after a record-setting thanksgiving weekend for Nintendo. Not only was this the best weekend for Switch sales in its life, the Switch also became the highest selling console from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday in U.S. History.

Earlier this year, Nintendo revealed that their sales goal for the Switch in the current fiscal year ending in March 2019 was 20 million units. While this number seemed high to many, Nintendo’s extremely profitable holiday might make their goal a reality.

Recently, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said that, in America, Nintendo makes around 60% of their yearly revenue from October to December. With Super Mario Party’s sales, the early success of Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee and the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo is looking to have a big holiday season.
