Mass Effect: Andromeda Producer Confirms Protagonist’s Name

Why, hello there.
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Mass Effect: Andromeda didn’t have a huge showing at E3 this year; aside from a beautiful new trailer, we don’t have any new information that we don’t already know. All we can really say for sure is that you’re someone traveling to the new Andromeda Galaxy, and now it looks like we’ve got a surname for our protagonist, seen at the end of the trailer. Producer Mike Gamble tweeted a picture for the woman, confirming that her last name is Ryder.

Ryder may possibly be named after Sally Ride, the first American woman to travel to space and also the youngest American astronaut to leave Earth. It would fall in line with Shepard’s name, as he was named after Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr., the second person and first American astronaut to go to space. Just like with Shepard, you’ll be able to pick your first name, but they’ll always be a Ryder.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will hit the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 next year. Stay tuned to Twinfinite for more E3 2016 news.
