The Witness Voice Cast Includes Ellie and Samurai Jack

A group of memorable voice actors will help flesh out the story.

The Witness was originally announced back in 2009 by Jonathan Blow, the creator of the indie smash-hit Braid. It’s gone through extended development time as Blow and his team have tried to craft the puzzle/exploration game into their vision.

With just a couple of weeks left before The Witness releases, Blow took to the European PlayStation Blog to give us the lowdown on the talented voice actors that would be lending their skills to the game. Blow describes how The Witness riffs on many aspects of game design including the storytelling technique of collectible audio logs,

“The Witness has recordings like this, but let’s just say they are done in a highly non-traditional way. When you first encounter them you won’t find much in the way of answers, but, if you keep looking, you will eventually be able to piece together what’s going on.”

Blow then continued on giving us a look at four talented actors that will be the various voices inside The Witness. He does warn however, that the story in The Witness is subtle and happens fairly implicitly. According to him, you really have to explore and read between the lines to see the whole story. Here’s the voice cast,

Ashley Johnson, who you may know as Ellie from The Last of Us, or from her roles in Tales from the Borderlands and Infamous: First Light. She also plays the smartest person on the hit TV show Blindspot.

Phil LaMarr, who I best know as Marvin from Pulp Fiction, but who you may know as Vamp in Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4, or as Ratbag from Shadow of Mordor. He also played Hermes in Futurama and Ollie Williams in Family Guy!

Matthew Waterson, who played very English person Sir Lucan in The Order: 1886, and has recently acted in Fallout 4 and Halo 5.

Terra Deva, an oft-performing musician, including recent hit single “At Night” with the Swiss group Shakedown (though she doesn’t play music in The Witness because we don’t have music in The Witness! She is acting!) and veteran of… The Mickey Mouse Club (among many other places)!!

The Witness is coming on January 26, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PC. Have you been waiting for The Witness to release? What do you think about the voice cast lending their talents to the game? Let us know down in the comments.
