Still a great game.

Titanfall 2 was released in October of last year and, despite receiving great reviews, didn’t quite get the momentum it was no doubt aiming for. Publisher EA has now officially acknowledged that the game did sell as well as had been expected.

As GameSpot reports, during an earnings call, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen admitted that the game hadn’t sold as well as the company had hoped it would.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated that EA has a “great relationship” with developer Respawn. He also added that he believes the game will make up numbers in the long run due to the quality of the game. He went on to confirm that EA remains dedicated to Titanfall 2 and there are still plans for more DLC to be released this year. There has been no confirmation as to whether a Titanfall 3 is in the works.

It has been speculated that a major factor in Titanfall 2’s sales is the fact that it was released in-between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. These two games are both hugely popular first-person shooters in their own right and Titanfall 2 may have fared better had it been released at a different time.

As mentioned earlier, the game may not have had the success of other shooters but it has been regarded well by both gamers and critics for its fun online multiplayer and sleek gameplay. No doubt there are many fans out there who are hoping for a third installment.
