The Quarry

The Quarry Boasts a Staggering 186 Different Endings

While many branching narrative video games like Until Dawn, Detroit: Become Human, and Heavy Rain feature plenty of multiple endings, it sounds like Supermassive Games is ready to up the ante significantly with their next effort. Yes, the UK-based outfit have officially confirmed that their upcoming ’80s-inspired cinematic slasher title, The Quarry, will launch with 186 different endings.

The news comes by way of an IGN exclusive interview with the game’s director, Will Byles, which you can see for yourself below:

As you can see in the interview above, Byles goes into detail describing the process of bringing the branching narrative of The Quarry to fruition. One factoid that stands out is Byles’ admission that “Actors are used to […] on a feature film a 100 page script. The script for this is over 1,000 pages.” Pretty impressive, no?

Additionally, the team allegedly has to shoot “50 pages a day,” which is “unheard of,” according to the game’s director.

For those unaware, The Quarry is an Until Dawn-esque interactive horror experience that emulates the filmic qualities of the blood-drenched genre. It’ll even star Hollywood horror icons like Scream’s David Arquette and Fantasy Island’s Evan Evagora.

Interestingly, The Quarry is officially not a part of the Dark Pictures Anthology, which the studio has been working on recently, but is instead a brand-new horror IP. That being said, it will bear a lot of similarities to that aforementioned series in how the gameplay plays out.

For more information, here’s a general overview courtesy of Supermassive Games:

When the sun goes down on the last night of summer camp, nine teenage counselors are plunged into an unpredictable night of horror. The only thing worse than the blood-drenched locals and creatures hunting them are the unimaginable choices you must make to help them survive.

The Quarry stabs its way to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on June 10, 2022.
