There was big news for The Division at the Ubisoft E3 2016 conference today as a second expansion for the game was announced. The expansion, aptly named Survival, will put the player in less than favorable conditions forcing them to scavenge for low supplies and fight their way through a raging blizzard. The story for Survival has the player searching for a possible cure for the Green Poison which decimated New York City and sent it into quarantine. Unsurprisingly, this expansion has a major focus on surviving to the best of your abilities with very limited resources. At the very end of the trailer, we also catch a glimpse of the “hunter” the narrator for the trailer was speaking of and he looks like a complete monster. Seems someone is chasing down Division Agents and stealing their gear. Fits with the theme of the Dark Zone. You can check out the trailer below.
The Division has struggled with major bug and player hacking problems and has seen a huge dip in player counts on the PC. Maybe Survival will breath some new life into the expansive loot shooter in the days to come. No date was given for Survival, but with the next expansion, Underground, releasing June 28 for Xbox One and PC and August 2 for PS4, we’re hoping Survival isn’t too far behind.
