Stardew Valley, the insanely popular farming simulator from ConcernedApe and Chucklefish, has at long last become available on Android devices.
This comes after Eric Barone(AKA ConcernedApe) promised an Android release for the indie hit that would come a full six months after the launch of the iOS port.
Since its release in February 2016, Stardew Valley quickly rose to popularity and over the years has expanded to console releases, added new languages, and even launched a multiplayer mode in August last year.
The delay in getting the game to Android was put down to needing more time to develop. As such, despite the game itself being identical to the other versions, the Android port comes with some new adaptations made by the studio working on the port, The Secret Police.
These additions were created to make the game more user friendly on mobile and include:
- Pinch-to-zoom feature for an up-close look at details.
- A Google Maps-style overview.
- Autosave, so you don’t have to wait until the and of a day cycle and can leave the app whenever you like.
- A virtual joystick as well as on-screen buttons, making combat and interactions easier.
Originally made as a fan game in tribute to Barone’s love of peaceful farming sim Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley quickly become beloved by fans for its addictive gameplay, cute visuals, and loveable cast of characters. Now, it’s arguably the genre leader.
The game put a fresh spin on the genre by combining classic farming features like growing crops, harvesting, and fishing with more adventurous elements like monster hunting, combat, and weapon upgrades.
It’s also well liked for its world building and story elements, as you can get to know the diverse array of townspeople and even choose a love interest.
Stardew Valley is now available at the Play Store for $7.99(the same as on iOS), with no in-app purchases attached.
