Design Director Mike Chapman explained the long-terms goals that the team is looking at, and one is to make the game more accessible for new players.

Even more interestingly, we hear that as of now every ship you meet on the sea of the game is just a mystery. You don’t know who they are and whether they mean you harm or well.

On the other hand, the developers are looking into letting players declare their motivations and getting related rewards.

This would enable them to roleplay as a Gold Hoarder, a Merchant, or a bounty hunter from the Order of Souls, creating an interplay of factions within the world.

With this feature players from the same trade who meet each other would start with that shared commonality, respecting each other even if they don’t know each other.

Chapman did not provide a timeline for these features, at it is unclear whether they’re set in stone of something the studio is simply considering for now.

Sea of Thieves is currently available for Windows 10 and Xbox One.

Just yesterday we leaerned that Rare is also working on a new game titled Everwild, of which you can see a trailer and the first screenshots.

He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
