Today Sega released a couple of new trailers of its popular MMORPG Phantasy Star Online focusing on new content for western players.
We get to see the new Sword Art Online collaboration event which starts today, May 12, and provides plenty of themed collaboration content that can be earned simply by playing the game.
This diverges considerably from the usual collaborations, which rely mostly on the AC Scratch mechanic.
Speaking of AC Scratch, we also get to see the next one, titled “Sakura Splendor.” As usual, it comes with plenty of costumes, accessories, emotes, CAST parts, hairstyles, and more, providing a lot of ways to customize your character’s style.
It also starts tomorrow and will remain available until June 9. As usual, you can take a look at the trailer below to see the main items, while the full catalog is published on the official website.
If you’re unfamiliar with AC Scratch, that’s basically the game’s loot box/gacha-like mechanic that you can get through tickets purchased with Arks Cash.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is available in the west for Xbox One and PC. A few months ago, we heard that the western version enjoyed a “strong start” and that it passed one million players.
In the meanwhile, Sega will release Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis in June. It will basically be a new game operated in parallel with the original Phantasy Star Online 2.
The original game will, in turn, receive a visual upgrade to bring it more in line with New Genesis’ graphics (this has actually already happened on the Japanese version). Players will be able to use the same accounts and characters to play both games.
