Nintendo’s President Tatsumi Kimishima spoke with Nikkei on the company’s new console, the Nintendo Switch. There, he talked about the pricing for the online service and the possibility of adding virtual reality functionality to their console. “Nintendo Switch VR” might be a household term in the coming years.

Kimishima told Nikkei, “Nintendo is studying virtual reality functionality to the new console. If we are able to resolve the issues with playing [VR] comfortably for long hours, we will support it in one form or another.”

With PlayStation VR launching this past year and cell phones coming out with devices like Samsung Gear and Google Cardboard, VR popularity is at an all-time high.

The Nintendo Switch launches on Mar. 3, 2017 worldwide for the price of $299.99 USD. We’ve gotten news that Nintendo wants to increase the production of the Switch so everyone can pre-order it and not have any issues.

Will Nintendo be too late to the VR party? Or do you think the Switch can have a success in the VR space? Let us know in the comments below.
