John Wick’s Writer Has Been Tapped for a Hitman Pilot on Hulu

Character assassination.

There’s a television adaptation of Hitman coming to Hulu, and its pilot is being handled by the writer of one of the best action flicks in the last few years, John Wick. Writer Derek Kolstad has written John Wick and John Wick Chapter 2, and is working on John Wick Chapter 3 for the future as well. He’s also going to be one of the show’s executive producers going forward.

Previously, there was a Hitman movie starring Timothy Olyphant, but it wasn’t exactly the kind of film that inspired confidence in the Hitman fanbase. It was a decent enough film, but it was missing some of the oomph that would have made it a hit for fans.

With Kolstad on board for the Hulu series, hopefully it will take a turn for the better, or at least adapt the games in a better, more cohesive way that makes more sense for the franchise as a whole. Since he already knows how to write characters who happen to assassinate others well, it makes sense that this pilot will be much more in-tune with fans of both the last game and the series as a whole.
