His induction into the AIAS Hall of Fame will take place at the D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Awards on February 18 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hideo Kojima will be the 21st person to receive these honors. Kojima’s award will be presented to him by famed Hollywood movie director, Guillermo del Toro. For those who may or may not remember, del Toro was supposed to work alongside Kojima on the latest installment into the Silent Hill series, Silent Hills, which unfortunately met with an untimely fate due to Kojima’s break-up with Konami.

Having worked under Konami for close to 30 years, Kojima’s and Konami’s partnership came to a rather nasty close. It all started with the gaming company removing his name and logo from the box art for the latest Metal Gear Solid game, The Phantom Pain. This grueling process of Konami removing Kojima from their company drug out for just about over a year. It all ended with Konami legally prohibiting Kojima from attending The Game Awards that took place this past month in December.

Now that all is said and done, Kojima has announced his very own studio, Kojima Productions, with his very first project being partnered up with Sony.

What do you think of Kojima being inducted into the AIAS Hall of Fame? Sound off in the comments below, and tell us why you think Kojima deserves (or doesn’t deserve) this award.
