Today sega hosted a livestream dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Yakuza franchise, and we heard a few tidbits about the future of the series.
During his final speech, the series’ creator and Sega chief creative officer Toshihiro Nagoshi confirmed that development of the next game of the Yakuza series has already started.
No further information was provided by Nagoshi-san, who also thanked fans and fellow developers for the support over the past fifteen years.
We also hear the confirmation that the PS5 version of the game will launch in Japan on March 2, at the same time as the western version. It will be titled “Ryu ga Gotoku 7 International” and include the English voice-overs alongside the Japanese ones.
It’s presented as an arrangement of the western version featuring improved frame rate and resolution (4k), shortened loading times, and quality of life tweaks (compared to the original PS4 version). It also includes the DLC that were sold for the PS4 version (Final Millennium Tower and Premium New Game) and adjusted trophies. Saves won’t be compatible with the Japanese PS4 version.
