Surprising no one, Super Mario Odyssey has been a smashing success, as evidenced by Nintendo’s announcement that it has become the fastest-selling Mario game ever in the US, even more than New Super Mario Bros. back on the Wii. It sold a whopping 1.1 million units in the U.S. alone, which is a massive amount of games, and its reviews from critics across the board have reflected a Mario adventure that people very much want to play.

“The public continues to respond positively to Mario’s latest adventure,” Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime gushed in a press release. “We’re also seeing sales momentum for Nintendo Switch thanks to an ever-growing catalog of games from large publishers and indie developers.”

In response to the massive popularity of Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo has been ramping up supplies of Nintendo Switch systems to help ensure the holiday demand is met going forward. The current number of Switch systems that have been sold in the US throughout the end of October has risen to 2.6 million, and it will likely continue to grow.
