Reviving Horses in Red Dead Redemption 2

To revive your horse, you’ll need a Horse Revive Tonic. This can be purchased from Stables, as well as General Stores. If your horse is lying on the ground, not moving, your horse is dead and requires reviving.

Walk over to it and press L2/ LT to bring up the interaction options you have with your horse. Next, as long as you’ve got a Horse Revive Tonic, you’ll be able to press Triangle/ Y to give your horse the tonic and revive it.

It’s pretty much an immediate effect, too, so you won’t have to wait around forever for the tonic to bring your steed back to its feet.

What If I Don’t Have a Horse Revive Tonic?

If you’ve not got one of these special tonics, we’ve got some bad news for you. You’re pretty much out of luck when it comes to reviving your horse in Red Dead Redemption 2. If there’s a store or stables nearby that you can quickly get the tonic from, you might still be able to revive it, but you’ll have to be quick.

For those of you that really don’t want to part ways with their horse and don’t have a revive tonic, you’ll want to simply turn off your game and load it back up. You’re going to lose out on any progress since your last save, but it’s what has to be done to save your four-legged friend.
