The Crown Tundra expansion is looking like a much larger addition to the game than the Isle of Armor. It brings multiple new features, including Dynamax Adventures. But what exactly does that mean? Here’s everything you need to know about Dynamax Adventures in Pokemon Crown Tundra.
Pokemon Crown Tundra Dynamax Adventures Explained
How to Start Dynamax Adventures
To start Dynamax Adventures, you’ll need to enter Max Lairs. These are essentially underground mazes full of rare Pokemon. They can be entered alone or with friends.
Once you enter the Crown Tundra, the first available Max Lair isn’t too far away from you. You’ll find it thanks to a plot-related event that begins shortly after speaking to a girl named Peonia and her father, Peony, right outside Crown Tundra Station.
The Max Lair is located in Slippery Slope, slightly left of where you exit the station.
How Dynamax Adventures Work
When taking part in a Dynamax Adventure, you can’t actually use your own Pokemon. Each trainer will need to choose from a selection of prepared Pokemon, for arbitrary plot reasons.
As you go deeper into the tunnels, you’ll come to forks in the trails. If you’re playing in co-op, the team will need to decide which paths to take together.
Max Raid Battles will begin once you come across Dynamax Pokemon. If you’re able to catch the Pokemon, you can swap it for the one you’re currently using if you think it’ll help you get further in the Max Lair.
If your team’s Pokemon faint too many times, the adventure will end before you can reach the back of the lair. Luckily, the NPCs found on the paths will offer you items and other Pokemon to exchange if you need more options.
If you make it to the end of a Dynamax Adventure, you’ll encounter a legendary Pokemon. They’re waiting at the deepest parts of Max Lairs.
How to Play With Friends
Playing with friends in Dynamax Adventures is basically the same as playing with friends for Max Raid Pokemon battles. The waiting area even looks identical.
When you start a Dynamax Adventure, you’ll have to set an eight-digit Link Code that each person will need to enter to join the same team. Press the + button to enter a Link Code on the Dynamax Adventure lobby screen.
Alternatively, you can simply select the Invite Others option to enter matchmaking with random players.
Rewards
The main reward for Dynamax Adventures is the Pokemon you meet along the way. You’ll be able to choose from the Pokemon that you and your team managed to catch while in the Max Lair. You can only keep one though, so choose wisely.
The other reward is Dynite Ore which can be exchanged for a variety of rare items outside of the Max Lairs.
You’ll get more rewards for teaming up with other players, so try not to go in alone if you can help it.
