Fortnite Battle Royale has for some time been one of the most popular games on the planet. Beyond the PC and console versions, its mobile port has proven equally successful — though its iOS version disappeared some time ago due to a contractual dispute between Epic Games and Apple. That being said, there is actually now a workaround. Here’s what you need to do to get Fortnite Battle Royale on iOS.
First, a quick recap on the situation that led to Fortnite being removed from the App Store in the first place.
As alluded to above, Fortnite hasn’t been available for some time on iOS following Apple’s removal of the game from the App store. This was a result of a stance that Epic took which essentially accused Apple’s in-app-purchase system as a method to deliberately inflate fees and take unnecessary money from the pockets of gamers (and, ultimately, Epic). Epic believes that developers should have a greater degree of control over payment options, and when it attempted to circumvent Apple’s 30% cut, well, it didn’t go down too well with Apple — hence the game being removed from the App Store. Enter Microsoft.
How to Get Fortnite on iOS
Microsoft announced last week that it had partnered with Epic to make Fortnite available on Apple devices through its game streaming service, Xbox Cloud Gaming. Technically, then, Fortnite is back for iOS, though you won’t be able to simply open the App Store and download the game as before.
However, the process is simple enough. All you need to do is open a browser and visit this link. There’s no subscription required at all, though you do need to log in to a Microsoft account and link it with your Epic Games account. If you’re unsure how to do so, Epic Games has a step-by-step here.
That’s everything you’ll need to know about how to get Fortnite on iOS. For lots more useful guides on Fortnite, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
