When you first start playing Enshrouded, the game will hardly tell you what items are worth keeping or which skills you should get. Furthermore, optimizing items and skills yourself will drain both your time and life energy. So, we created the four best Enshrouded builds you should use to take your adventure to the next level, and they are just below.
Best Mage Build in Enshrouded
Wands beat staffs when it comes to mage builds in Enshrouded—no question about it. They require no ammo, and the skills you can unlock also benefit them much more. Below is a full endgame loadout I’m currently using, with alternatives for early/mid-game as well.
Best Skills for a Mage Build
- Wand Master – 30% chance to spawn an additional wand projectile.
- Sting – Repeated wand damage is increased by 20%.
- Water Aura – You and your allies in a 15-meter radius regen 1 health for every two points you have in Intelligence.
- Waters of Life – You and your allies in a 15-meter radius regen an additional 2 health for every two points you have in Intelligence.
- Double Jump – Allows jumping a second time while airborne.
- Wizard – Increases critical chance by 10% when using magical weapons.
- Mass Destruction – A critical hit with a magic weapon will hit all enemies in a 20-meter radius for 2 shock damage per your point of Intelligence.
- Ranger – +2 Endurance, +2 Dexterity, +5 Stamina Recharge, +5% Critical Chance, +5% Critical Damage.
- Exalted – You will gain one point of Intelligence for each two levels of the flame.
The skills above are ordered depending on their importance, and to get them all without sacrificing other utility from the skill tree, you’ll eventually need all 114 of the available skill points in the game.
Well, first, Sting and Wand Master are the biggest wand damage boosts you can get from skills. Just those two stack up an approximate 50% damage increase, and they only cost 12 total skill points to unlock. So, getting them first is an obvious choice.
Second, Water Aura + Waters of Life have been nerfed, but they are still strong because of all the Intelligence you’ll have in this build. It makes your sustain amazing even with low max HP. Still, I recommend you take a couple of Constitution nodes just for safety, as some higher-level mobs can one-shot you otherwise.
Now you ask, why Double Jump? I explained how to cancel your wand attack animation with bunny-hopping in our best wand guide, so check it out. It makes a world of difference in combat and is also very useful for exploration.
Next, take Thunder-Lightning-Wizard-Chain Hit-Mass Destruction in order. Lightning is the damage type you’ll benefit the most from, and the other three skills are all connected and work very well together. Mass Destruction is especially good for dealing with those shroud bugs.
Ranger and Exalted are your least priority skills since both are super min-max options requiring you to have all skill points. You can disregard them until then and focus on some utility/exploration skills such as Lumberjack/Mason, Relentless Flame, and Updraft.
Use whatever skill points you have left for Constitution and Intelligence, as those are your most important attributes.
Best Equipment for a Mage Build
- Archmage Hat (+13% Critical Strike Damage, +15% Magical Critical Strike Chance; I use a Sage Headwrap as it’s not much worse but looks way cooler)
- Gloom Monarch Chestplate (+240 HP, +48 Mana)
- Elder Gloves (+9% Damage against Magical Foes, +12% Magic Damage Multiplier)
- Deerstalker Trousers (+18 Stamina, +1 Sprint Speed; they are called gloves for some reason in-game)
- Deadeye Boots (-700 Stamina Timeout Reduction, +3 Stamina Regeneration)
- Ring of The Ancients (+1 to all attributes)
Firstly, you can craft Deerstalker Trousers, Deadeye Boots, and the Archmage Hat once you reach the Kindlewastes. Until then, use Mage/Magician headgear and gloves and the best Stamina Timeout Reduction boots you can craft. It’s extremely useful for exploration, and all the other boots are just irrelevant.
Secondly, you can get the Gloom Monarch Chestplate from Brittlebush. It’s a large town northwest of the Kindlewastes spire, and the Monarch set is random loot from chests in that area. There are two golden ones on the rooftops in the west part of town, and they are easy to get.
You can also just craft one of the Blacksmith chest plates, but getting all the materials is a hassle (plus monarch armor looks too good). Until you get the ability to craft them, though, use the best HP/Stamina armor you currently have.
Finally, the Ring of The Ancients and the Elder Gloves are dropped from golden chests in the Kindlewastes area. The process of how to farm them is explained at the end of this guide. For now, know that the Warlock Gloves are also a good choice.
Best Weapon for a Mage Build
The Ritual Tempest Wand is the best mage weapon in the game, no doubt about it. With it, I recommend you carry a Blazing Wand as well. That way, you’ll have two wands that counter literally every monster in the game.
Their most important trait is that all of their upgrade nodes provide you with a flat elemental damage boost. For the wands of this level, that’s +9 elemental damage. That’s basically a 20% damage increase in the start, much more than any crit chance increase can give you. So, taking these two wands is really a no-brainer.
Best Melee Build in Enshrouded
A one-handed weapon and a shield are the most reliable combo you can take for a melee build in Enshrouded. Also, if you are going full aggro and are counting on your teammates for heals, being your party’s melee DPS/tank is a no-brainer.
Best Skills for a Melee Build
- Swift Blades – Allows you to attack faster with one-handed swords and axes.
- Battle Heal – When dealing critical damage with a melee weapon, heal 5% of your max HP.
- Heavy Plates – Increases maximum damage your armor can mitigate by 10%.
- Heavy Handed – Increase enemy stun bar gain by 20% when attacking through their block.
- Ranger – +2 Endurance, +2 Dexterity, +5 Stamina Recharge, +5% Critical Chance, +5% Critical Damage.
- Power Parry – Increases the enemy stun bar gain on parry attacks.
The most important skills you’ll need to take are Swift Blades and Battle Heal. They alone are enough to shred through enemies and keep your HP up, even while face-tanking enemies. Also, Ranger works well with Battle Heal but is less important.
On the other hand, Power Parry and Heavy Handed will help you stun easier mobs and delete them quickly. You can even take Breach after HH to get a 100% damage boost for two seconds after stun-locking an enemy.
Finally, Heavy Plates and everything that comes after it is min-max. Earth Aura is good if you are playing at a party, but otherwise, it provides very little value compared to how many skill points you’ll need to get it.
Once you’ve got all these, unlock as many Constitution and Strength skill nodes as you can with your remaining points. These will all add up and provide you with a hefty bonus to melee damage and max HP.
Best Equipment for a Melee Build
- Soldier Helmet (+12% Critical Strike Damage, +15% Melee Critical Strike Chance)
- Radiant Paladin Chestplate (+240 HP, +24 Stamina)
- Soldier Gloves (+3% Damage against Melee Foes, +12% One-Handed Melee Damage)
- Deerstalker Trousers (+18 Stamina, +1 Sprint Speed)
- Deadeye Boots (-700 Stamina Timeout Reduction, +3 Stamina Regeneration)
- Ring of The Ancients (+1 to all attributes)
The best shield you can use is the Ethereal Plane. For the early game, though, any shield is fine, as they are all very similar.
Next, having proper armor is crucial. I recommend taking the whole Adventurer Set from the Blacksmith and mixing it with the Guard of the North set once you find it. This should get you through the mid-game.
For end-game, though, legs, boots, and rings stay the same as in the Mage build. They are all too great individually, and you can’t get any better combat stats in those slots anyway.
Finally, you can get the Radiant Palading Chestplate in golden chests around the Kindlewastes, and the Soldier Gloves and Boots are both craftable via the Blacksmith.
Best Weapons Melee Build
The best weapon I got to use throughout the early game, and well past level 15, is the Hailscurge. Then, I started using a White Wolf Sword because it has a mix of everything. However, the best weapon I got to use, and the one I’m still using, is the Sword of Radiance.
Sword of Radiance has a perfect synergy with Battle Heal because it only has +5% crit upgrades, netting you a +25% crit chance increase with a fully upgraded legendary version. This will result in insane healing down the road, again removing any need for extra healing consumables.
Ultimately, playing in a party where multiple people have Water Aura will make the Battle Heal skill overkill. In that case, switch it out for some more DPS/Durability skills or general survival skills like Rebound or Double Jump.
Best Ranger Build in Enshrouded
Bows are worse than wands when it comes to ranged build options in Enshrouded. Nevertheless, a bow build is in order if we want this list to be complete. So, here is a sample loadout that should serve you well.
Best Skills for a Ranger Build
- Sharpshooter – All ranged damage is increased by an additional 20%.
- Sniper – When attacking with a ranged weapon, your critical chance is increased by 10%.
- Skill Shot – All damage dealt to an enemy’s head is increased by 20%.
- Ranger – +2 Endurance, +2 Dexterity, +5 Stamina Recharge, +5% Critical Chance, +5% Critical Damage.
- Water Aura – You and your allies in a 15-meter radius regen 1 health for every two points you have in Intelligence.
- Waters of Life – You and your allies in a 15-meter radius regen an additional 2 health for every two points you have in Intelligence.
- Multi Shot – Adds a 20% chance to spawn a flurry of arrows that spread slightly.
- Graceful Stride – You will gain one Dexterity for every two levels of the flame.
The ranger skill tree is by far the most condensed of all. And because of that, it lacks all of the versatility the other sub-trees offer. For that reason, we will take the Water Aura and Waters of Life here as well. Just for that extra bit of free sustain (we have nowhere else to dump skill points anyway).
Now, for the damage nodes. Sharpshooter, Skill Shot, and Ranger can all be unlocked in a straight line. Therefore, those should be the first ones you unlock. You can also take the Multi Shot right there for some AoE burst.
Finally, Sniper and Graceful Stride are in the Assassin sub-tree. Sniper, you can get early, but Graceful Stride is a very low-priority skill. It only really adds value after you’ve upgraded your flame to at least level four.
Best Equipment for a Ranger Build
- Deerstalker Hood(+13% Critical Strike Damage, +15% Ranged Critical Strike Chance)
- Radiant Paladin Chestplate (+240 HP, +24 Stamina)
- Deerstalker Gloves (+6% Ranged Damage, +12% Damage Multiplier)
- Deerstalker Trousers (+18 Stamina, +1 Sprint Speed)
- Deadeye Boots (-700 Stamina Timeout Reduction, +3 Stamina Regeneration)
- Ring of The Ancients (+1 to all attributes)
Yet again, we are keeping the trousers, boots, and rings. We are also adding the Deerstalker Hood and Gloves for the extra ranged damage. Furthermore, the chest plate is the same as in the melee build, but you can use a Deerstalker one for the full ninja drip.
Ultimately, you want as many stamina-related stats for exploration and as many damage modifiers for your bow. Your skills, by default, offer fewer damage boosts than for the other builds, so you have to optimize any way you can.
Best Weapon for a Ranger Build
Longbows have a way slower draw time but not much more flat damage. Therefore, we are going with a short bow, and the best one is the Ornate Wood Bow. It has crit and backstab damage increases as upgrades, making it very good for the fast-paced ranger playstyle.
The drawback is that it has no elemental damage, making it a good all-around bow but not the best damage-wise for specific enemies. I recommend you take an Ignited Bow as well for extra damage against Fell foes and use the Ornate one for scavengers and the like.
Best Solo Early Game Build in Enshrouded
More than half of your Enshrouded gameplay will be just exploration, and this build is best suited for that. It’s tailored for people who play a solo adventure, but even if you are in a party, its utility will serve all of you greatly. It’s also the build I’ve used up until about level 15, and it never failed me.
Best Skills for a Solo Early Game Build
There are five main skills you need to get for this build:
- Water Aura – You and your allies in a 15-meter radius regen 1 health for every two points you have in Intelligence.
- Waters of Life – You and your allies in a 15-meter radius regen an additional 2 health for every two points you have in Intelligence.
- Double Jump – Allows jumping a second time while airborne.
- Wanderlust – Reduces stamina consumption on dirt roads to 75% and on stone roads to 50%.
- Rebound – Increases base stamina regeneration by 50%.
- Inner Fires/Relentless Flame – Increase maximum Shroud Time by 2/5 minutes.
Since this build is an early-game all-arounder, we want to cover essentials as best as we can. So, we are taking Water Aura + Waters of Life. Even though they’ve been nerfed, they are still better than having to farm ingredients for crafting healing items.
Next, we have Double Jump, Wanderlust, and Rebound, which are all very close to each other. Wanderlust and Rebound will cut down your stamina costs and increase its replenishment, while Double Jump will let you reach otherwise unreachable places. It’s also good if you are running a wand.
Inner Fires or Relentless Flame should be the last skills you get, and they’ll complete this solo early-game build nicely. Moreover, both of these skills will offset the penalties you get from the Guard of the North armor set if you are using it, of course.
Lastly, for the smaller nodes, I recommend you take Constitution and Endurance primarily. Also, take Dexterity/Intelligence/Strength, depending on your weapon of choice. You can respec at any time, so don’t worry if you pick the wrong skill node.
Best Equipment for a Solo Early Game Build
There aren’t any core items you absolutely need to have for this build, but here is a list of the ones that are nice to have:
- Adventurer Helmet (+13% Melee Critical Strike Chance)
- Adventurer Chest (+120 HP)
- Adventurer Gloves (+3% Melee Damage)
- Marksman Trousers (+2 Stamina Regeneration)
- Marksman Boots (-500 Stamina Timeout Reduction)
- Medium Backpack (+16 Inventory Slots)
- Advanced Glider (Increased range and speed and lower stamina consumption)
The most important thing about all of the items above is that you can craft all of them and the resources you need for that are all easily acquireable. Of course, the gloves and the helmet will change depending on your weapon, but all other items can be exchanged as well.
The only thing you really need to worry about is getting proper boots with as much stamina timeout reduction as possible since that’s the only stat you can’t get any other way in Enshrouded.
Best Weapon for a Solo Early Game
Since this is a build that focuses more on utility and less on damage, the best weapon you can use with it is the one you like playing the most. For me, it was the one-handed swords till about level 15 and wands after that.
Bows, I can’t really recommend them until the endgame, at least. You’ll need a lot of ammo to run them, and they don’t have that high DPS. The only boss they are really useful for is the Scavenger Matron, and you won’t be seeing her much.
Moreover, they offer no passive sustain from skills, so you’ll need healing items as well. Either that or Water Aura, and with limited skill points, that’s not something you can afford easily.
Where to Farm Legendary Gear For Your Builds in Enshrouded
I explained this legendary level 25 gear farming location in the best wand guide, so if you want the full version, check it out there. Here is a brief rundown of the mechanics:
First, go to the Sun Temple east of the Kindlewastes spire shown on the map below. Progress the first couple of rooms until you reach a staircase leading down.
Second, this is where you’ll place the altar at the end. For now, go down and clear out all the enemies and critter spawns inside the Sun Temple. That is the only way you’ll be able to place the altar inside the temple.
Third, place the altar at the designated spot as in the image above and upgrade it ONCE. Not twice or any more times; this is important so you can tear down the doors, windows, and anything else needed to speed up the farm.
Finally, loot the golden chest, then leave the game and re-enter it. If you’ve done everything correctly, the chest will respawn with new loot, and you can continue farming.
Also, because of the altar upgrade at that specific spot, you should be able to destroy stuff in your way while keeping the golden chest respawning. I destroyed the window, as in the image above, and the first set of doors, allowing me to just run down the stairs straight into the room. This way, every run takes 10 seconds at most.
How to Make Your Builds the Best They Can Be In Enshrouded
When devising your own build, there are a couple of things you should especially consider:
- Food – Use food items to boost your attributes.
- Attribute nodes – If you are using only a wand, don’t waste your skill points on Spirit. Invest them into Intelligence instead.
- Extra damage from skills – Taking two Dexterity nodes is worse than getting Sharpshooter. The same goes for other primary attributes.
- Equipment – Getting 8 stamina from a piece of gear is much less worth it than getting 2 stamina or HP regen. These stats are hard to get from skills, but stamina/HP/Mana aren’t.
- Weapons – A melee weapon that has only one damage type won’t be versatile. Therefore, either bring a couple of weapons with different damage types or get one that can reliably deal damage to everything you encounter.
That’s about everything you need to know about how to make and which builds are best right now in Enshrouded. If this guide was helpful and you want to learn more about the game, check the related links we appended below.
