There’s a wide variety of weapons available for players to earn, find, and buy in Elden Ring’s the Lands Between, but some of the very best weapons are the toughest to obtain. That holds true for this katana, so if you’re wondering how to get it, we have the info right here. Here’s where to find the Moonveil katana in Elden Ring.
Where to Find the Moonveil Katana in Elden Ring
This powerful katana is found in a cave called Gael Tunnel, found on the border of Caelid and Limgrave. You’ll need to enter it through Caelid — the red area on the map to the east. There are many knights and other enemies near the entrance, but you can ride right past them on Torrent and enter the tunnel quickly to avoid being followed.
Here’s the exact spot on the map where Gael Tunnel is located:
Gael Tunnel contains a few knights, mining enemies, and octopus monstrosities, so come prepared. Proceed straight through the tunnel while avoiding dead ends until you eventually come to a room with two wooden doors to open. The one on the left leads to a Site of Grace, while the double doors on the right lead to a boss fight.
You’ll need to defeat the Magma Wyrm boss through the door on the right to obtain the Moonveil katana. As its name suggests, this relatively small dragon spits magma from its mouth, so use fire-resistance items and armor while avoiding its mouth to take it down. It’s also worth noting that attacking with cold-infused weapons helps considerably.
Once the Magma Wyrm is defeated, you’ll be rewarded with the Moonveil — a sword that scales with Str (E), Dex (D), and Int (C), which makes it great for sorcerer builds. In fact, it’s one of the best swords for any Int-based build.
It also has the Transient Moonlight Skill, which shoots blades of light out of the sword when either normal or heavy attacks are used while the Special button/key is held down.
That’s everything you need to know about where to find the Moonvel katana in Elden Ring. Be sure to check out our guide wiki for more tips tricks, and other special item locations as you journey through the Lands Between.
