The DLC, announced back in February, includes three new characters who will prove familiar to fans of the manga and anime.

They are new kid on the block Shingo Aoi, Saudi Arabia Youth captain Mark Owairan, and Uruguayan forward Ryoma Hino.

On top of the DLC, we get a free update. The largest feature on the menu is the Nankatsu route for the Episode New Hero campaign. This time around, we’ll be able to have our custom character be Tsubasa’s companion instead of his rival.

Specifically, the route is set as Tsubasa is recovering from his injuries, and the player will have to hold the fort in his stead.

You can check out the trailer below.

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is currently available for PS4, Switch, and PC.

While the franchise is certainly very well known, not everyone is familiar with it, as its popularity varies considerably from region to region.

While In North America the original Captain Tsubasa anime never rose to relevance, in many European and Latin American countries (and of course, Japan) almost every kid who grew up in the past forty years knows about it.
